Mill Steel Company has been ranked #13 on the 2026 Metal Center News (MCN) Top 50 Service Centers List, recognizing Mill Steel among the largest metal service center companies in North America.

The annual MCN Top 50 ranking highlights the leading metals distributors across the continent based on sales data from the previous year. For Mill Steel, moving from #14 in the 2025 ranking to #13 in 2026 reflects the company’s continued growth and the strength of its customer-focused approach to metals distribution and processing.

What Is the Metal Center News Top 50 Service Centers List?

The Metal Center News Top 50 Service Centers List is an annual ranking of North America’s largest metal service center companies. Now an established benchmark within the metals distribution industry, the list provides a look at the scale and performance of leading service centers across the market.

Mill Steel has been recognized on the list for many years as it continues to expand across the United States.

What Does Mill Steel’s #13 Ranking Mean for Customers?

While the ranking recognizes company size, Mill Steel’s growth is ultimately about its ability to support customers with reliable material supply, processing capabilities, technical expertise and responsive service.

Mill Steel distributes and processes flat-rolled carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and coated steel, serving customers across industries including automotive, construction, agriculture, HVAC, appliances and manufacturing.

Its capabilities include:

  • Slitting
  • Cut-to-length
  • Blanking
  • Leveling
  • Polishing
  • Material testing through accredited laboratories

This combination of material expertise, processing capabilities and distribution infrastructure allows Mill Steel to serve customers with more than material alone.

Growth Built Around Customer Experience

Mill Steel’s continued growth has been supported by investments in people, technology, processing capabilities and its distribution network.

The company operates multiple facilities across the United States, giving customers access to a broad inventory and regional service capabilities. Strategic acquisitions and facility investments have also expanded Mill Steel’s geographic reach and capabilities.

But scale is only valuable when it translates into a better customer experience.

Mill Steel’s focus remains on helping customers find the right material, meet production requirements and navigate an increasingly complex metals market.

“Our growth is a reflection of the trust our customers place in us and the dedication of our associates,” said Pam Heglund, Mill Steel CEO. “Being recognized by Metal Center News is an honor, but what matters most is continuing to earn that trust through the service and reliability we provide every day.”

From a Small Steel Distributor to a Top 50 Service Center

Founded in 1959 by Harry Samrick, Mill Steel began with a simple vision: that superior service and strong business ethics could build a successful company.

More than six decades later, Mill Steel remains a family-owned business while serving customers across a growing national footprint.

That history provides an important perspective on the company’s #13 ranking – Mill Steel has grown without losing sight of the customer relationships that helped build the company.

Today, the company combines the resources of a major metals service center with a relationship-driven approach to customer service.

Looking Ahead

The metals industry continues to evolve, with customers navigating changing demand, supply chain challenges, material requirements and increasingly complex manufacturing needs.

Mill Steel continues to invest in the capabilities, technology and people needed to help customers navigate those changes.

Being named #13 on the 2026 Metal Center News Top 50 Service Centers List is another milestone in that journey—and one Mill Steel shares with the customers, suppliers and associates who have contributed to the company’s growth.

Thank you to our customers, suppliers and associates for helping make this recognition possible.

Mill Steel looks forward to building on this momentum and continuing to deliver the materials, processing capabilities and expertise customers need to keep their businesses moving forward.
