Mil Steel’s Golf For Kids Outing Raises $215,000 for D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s Mentoring Services!

Mill Steel has passionately supported the community efforts of D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s (DABSJ) for over two decades. Fundraising for the agency has become a staple in the philanthropic identity of Mill Steel, specifically through our annual Golf For Kids (GFK) event, which supports DABSJ’s Mentoring Services. Unlike years prior, sunny skies welcomed golfers to the outing on Monday, July 9th at Blythefield Country Club.

Thanks to the generosity of our friends and business partners, the event raised $215,752! A successful day of golf and fundraising that brings the total amount raised over $2.5 million to date! The money helps support current matches and pair hundreds of youth and young mothers with new mentors – that’s thousands of lives helped on their path to success.

The real-life impact of mentoring could be heard through the testimony given by Troy Mossel and his mentee, Khalil. The duo were originally matched in the Youth in Business (YIB) workplace mentoring program that Mill Steel partners with DABSJ and East Kentwood Schools on. Their relationship started through YIB, but has since blossomed into a community based mentorship that has deeply impacted both of them. During the presentation, Khalil shared how Troy’s guidance and friendship has helped him prepare for the future and improve his grades.

Thank you to all that donated and helped make GFK another great success!
