Mill Steel Company has been named a finalist in the 2014 Platts Global Metals Awards, a program that recognizes exemplary performance in a dozen categories. The finalists were announced March 17th by program host Platts, the leading global energy, petrochemicals and metals information provider.
The Platts Global Metals Awards highlight corporate and individual innovation, leadership and superior performance in categories spanning the entire steel, metals and mining complex. The awards program, now in its second year, is modeled after the Platts Global Energy Awards, established in 1999 and often described as “the Oscars” of the energy industry.
Mill Steel Company was awarded a place as finalist in two categories:
Corporate Social Responsibility and Metal Mover of the Year.
The Corporate Social Responsibility Award (CSR) illuminates the ever important convergence of profitability and company values. The CSR Award recognizes organizations that best demonstrate leadership, commitment to action and real-world impacts. Finalists for this award are considered high performing organizations that have evidenced positive influence on surrounding communities, promoted teamwork toward sustainable, long-term impacts and encouraged active employee participation beyond mere financial contributions.
The Metal Mover of the Year Award recognizes those who distribute, store and facilitate trading or transport of the materials the world depends on. These aren’t just service centers, traders and transportation companies moving material from Point A to Point B. Finalists for this award add value to their links in the commodities chain on a daily basis, by offering superior customer service, consistently meeting quality targets and delivery deadlines.
“We congratulate the finalists for their contributions to the steel and metals industries and look forward to announcing this year’s Platts Global Metals Awards winners this May,” said Larry Neal, president of Platts.
